Teen Summer School Education

Most teenagers would balk at the idea of summer school. Summer school means to most that they did not do well during the course of the academic year, and that they are being “punished”. With that in mind, summer school may not be a good fit for many teens because it may be money and time wasted for summer study. However, for the motivated teen who is doing well in school, and wants to get more credits toward graduation, summer school may give extra study to subjects they could not take during the course of the regular school calendar.

Teen summer school education offers rich opportunities in strengthening and expanding skills that are already good. Taking extra music lessons, or more individualized coaching in a sport will give the teen an extra edge when returning to school in the fall. Taking advanced classes and individualized studies give the student a broadened skill set that will build grades and self confidence. Summer school offers deepened learning experiences for the self-motivated teen who wants to learn more in a particular subject. This can be a great learning process.

Summer school programs that are teamed with cooperative work experiences and/or internships are an excellent way to round out a teen’s learning experience. Study, with the chance to earn summer money is the best of both worlds. This experience could lead to future academic endeavors and career opportunities. Cooperative education can be an excellent curriculum development, forging positive community involvement with youth activities.

Teen summer school education offers broad choices for those persons who can take the chance and gain meaningful academic and practical work experiences. These should be offered at every level in every district. School districts should work diligently with the community to insure that these are available for every student.

Special Education Resource – Simple Steps That Make a Big Difference in Special Education

There is nothing really very simple in special education programs. The uplifting and gratifying part of our society is our brave attempts at making the future lives of special education student participants more pleasant and less frustrating. Some simple steps that can make a big difference in special education is continuity of format until absorbed and repeated and simple sharing of specific emotions.

When presenting a lesson in a special education class, the rigid structure must be adhered to as if connecting dots and not leaving out any connections because one assumes that they are understood. A participant in a special educations class does not make connections in an intellectual sense except in a mental sense. All connections in all situations for special education students have to have direct meaning to the student. It is my feelings, my needs, my wants, and my comprehension of what is going on that matters. Too many people assume that participants in a special education class are more altruistic than other students in non special classes. Just the opposite is true. The disability focuses the victim of the disability to be completely self absorbed.

Special resources for participants in special education classes are photographs of exaggerated emotions as shown in large detail on the faces of people. Flashcards of specific words representing that particular emotion can be used to focus an emotion to the language and the perception of that emotion.

Special resources are in class assignments that can be completed by those in the group who are the least developmentally or physically handicapped. They can act as tutors to those who can’t seem to finish the assignment and might turn to acting out in an attempt to cover for their inability to do the work. Always be aware that participants in special education classes know their limits and are extremely sensitive about them.

Online Education Brings New Dimensions in the Education Field

The introduction of an online education system has been a beautiful thing for many families. Online education gives students the opportunity to learn from their home. People who live in extremely rural areas can take advantage of a public school system without the hassle of getting their children to school everyday on time.

Online education is also a perfect way to complement a home school environment. A parent is able to be a part of a child’s education without the concern that the student is not learning at the same level as other students. Parents work with certified teachers to make sure a student is getting a complete education.

Students who travel a lot or are unwell and miss a lot of school can take advantage of these online programs. They can choose to do lessons on weekends, at night, or whenever they have the time.

A student is allowed to work at their own pace in an environment that is more comfortable and controlled. Students with learning disabilities can benefit from this type of learning situation. Students who are advanced will also benefit from the online system. Working at their own pace ensures they are getting the information they need from each lesson without the interruptions or rush that is often a part of a classroom setting.

Online education allows a student to complete a lesson in less time than it normally would in a traditional classroom setting. A student has the flexibility to take longer on something that may be difficult for them or to quickly work through lessons that are easy for them. Lessons that are troublesome can be reviewed over and over until the student completely understands. Other online tools are provided that can help a student look at a problem from a different perspective.
