When going into a nursing program for the first semester, the starting costs of getting all of the required items can become very expensive. While uniforms and medical supplies are the most expensive items on the list, there are several other smaller charges that can add up very quickly.

Mal practice insurance is something that most schools require for you get. This can be very expensive if your school does not do a group rate but the majority of them do. In average, a group rate costs approximately 35 dollars. It is important that you check with your school before getting mal practice insurance because they may require you to order it from a particular company.

Back ground checks are also required by many institutions. The reason for this is because in many settings you will be working in the hospital doing clinical work. The average cost of this is approximately 45 dollars depending on where you get it from. It is also important to check with your school about this because they may require you to use a certain website or service.

Physical exams are also required by most nursing programs. Depending on your insurance company these can become very expensive. In general, you must get a comprehensive physical, blood work, tuberculosis testing, and urine analysis. The requirements for medical testing differ with each school but one thing that most all schools require is a record of immunization. You can receive this from your childhood doctor.

All of these things can become very overwhelming when you are trying to reach your schools deadline. However, most universities have a packet of information that lists all of the requirements that you must complete before entering the program. By sticking to the checklist, staying on top of the deadlines, and getting the exams done early, you will find this process much less stressful.

Everyone has done it put studying at the bottom of their priority list, forcing them to try to cram it all in just hours before a scheduled exam. Yet, there are ways to make such study sessions more productive and less agonizing.

It is essential that you approach any studying, especially last minute studying, from a healthy frame of mind. If you worry too much about the potential outcome of an exam, you will only cause yourself undue stress and make it more difficult to remember what you need to know. Remember, the worst that can happen in you will fail one test.

If you understand that in the grade scheme of things, one test will not wreck your grade point average, you will be in a much better mental state in which to study. Come at it from the perspective that you would already be failing the exam, so anything better than an F could be considered a success.

Begin by trying to relax your mind and body. An unfettered mind is one much more likely to retain knowledge.

The basic goal of cramming for a test is to reach the maximum score with a minimum of effort. Of course, a side benefit could be scoring higher than your classmates while actually conducting less work than they put in.

The next step is to devise a strategy for approaching the material. Different subject matter will require different methods, but an essential similarity is that all studying benefits from a method of breaking down large subjects into bite-sized pieces. Try to pick out the underlying message of each piece of your subject matter.

Take the key points from each chapter or section of your material and master those as best as you can. Ignore miscellany and specifics as much as you can. Go through all test subjects in this way until you have completed it all.

Once you have mastered the major points, you should have a far better concept of the subject at hand. At the very least you will most likely have avoided a failing grade.
